AI Resume Builder

Build a complete resume step by step — personal details, summary, experience, education, skills and more — with country-correct formatting, six templates, a live preview and PDF export. The free smart writing help runs on transparent patterns in your browser; optional “AI” buttons, when set up, rewrite your facts through our server with OpenAI. It only ever works with facts you provide.

🔒 Private by design: these free tools run entirely in your browser. Your resume text is never uploaded to our servers, never indexed, and never used for advertising. Work is auto-saved only on this device — use Reset to erase it. Exception, only if you click an “AI” button: that task's entered text is sent through our server to OpenAI so it can be rewritten — it is not stored by us, and no API key ever appears in the page.

Build your resume — free, in your browser

Fill in your real details step by step and watch the live preview build itself. It is free, with no sign-up and no account: everything runs in this browser and autosaves locally on this device, so you can close the page and pick up where you left off. Choose from 6 templates, or import an existing resume to fill the form for you.

  • Free, no sign-up, no account needed
  • Autosaves locally in this browser — your data stays in this browser
  • 6 templates, live preview, and an ATS check against a job description
  • Import a PDF, Word file, photo, or pasted text — nothing is uploaded to a server

The sample uses fictional details — replace every field with your real details before downloading. Your data stays in this browser; nothing is uploaded.

How it works

Work through the ten steps on the left; the preview on the right updates as you type. Your work auto-saves on this device only, so you can leave and return. Choose your target country first — the guidance box shows that market's rules for length, photos and spelling.

Built for ATS screening

Most large employers screen with applicant tracking systems before a human reads anything. Every export from this builder uses a single column, standard section headings and selectable text — the three things parsers handle reliably. Then run the ATS Checker against your target job description.

Honesty is the strategy

The summary generator and bullet improver only reword your own facts. Recruiters verify claims in interviews and reference checks; a resume that survives verification beats a decorated one every time. Add your real numbers — they are the strongest lines you own.

Six templates to choose from

Every template is single-column with standard headings, so all six stay readable by applicant tracking systems. The cards below show layout only — placeholder text, not a real person's resume. Pick the layout in the builder and your own details fill it in.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Choose your country and role

The guidance box shows that market's rules for resume length, photos and spelling before you start typing.

  2. Step 2

    Fill in the steps

Work through personal details, summary, experience, education, skills and more, one step at a time.

  3. Step 3

    Watch the live preview

The preview updates as you type, so what you see is what the exported resume will look like.

  4. Step 4

    Check ATS and quality

Run the ATS Checker against your target job description and fix anything it flags before you send the resume.

  5. Step 5

    Export PDF or Word

Print to PDF for most online applications, or download the Word-compatible (.doc) version when an employer asks for an editable file.

Sample resumes

Two short examples of the kind of resume this builder produces. Both are invented for illustration — the people, employers and numbers are fictional, and nothing here is a claim about a real applicant.

Sample — fictional example for illustration only

Software Engineer

Software engineer with three years of experience building web applications with JavaScript and Python, focused on reliable, well-tested code.

  • Rebuilt a checkout page, cutting failed payments by a third in the first quarter after launch.
  • Automated weekly reporting, saving the team roughly six hours of manual work each week.
  • Wrote tests covering the main user flows, reducing repeat bugs reported after releases.

Skills: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, React, SQL, Git.

Sample — fictional example for illustration only

Office Assistant

Organised office assistant with two years of experience supporting a busy team of twelve, handling schedules, records and visitors with care.

  • Managed the team calendar and meeting rooms, reducing double bookings to none over six months.
  • Reorganised the filing system so any document could be found within two minutes.
  • Welcomed visitors and answered calls, keeping a clear log of every enquiry.

Skills: Scheduling, record keeping, MS Office, customer service, typing (55 wpm).

Writing a resume an ATS can actually read

One column, standard headings

Use a single column and ordinary headings such as Experience, Education and Skills. Multi-column layouts, tables and text boxes are where parsers most often lose or scramble content.

Selectable text, nothing baked into images

Your resume must be real text a system can select and copy — not a screenshot, photo or scanned image of a resume.

Mirror keywords honestly

If the job description asks for a skill you genuinely have, use the employer's own wording for it. Do not add skills or experience you cannot demonstrate — recruiters verify claims in interviews and reference checks.

No graphics, headers or footers

Skip icons, charts, logos and decorative graphics, and keep contact details in the body of the page rather than a header or footer, where some parsers never look.

Name the file professionally

Use a clear name such as Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf so a recruiter can find your file again without opening it.

PDF or Word — pick by what the employer asks

PDF (print) preserves your layout exactly and suits most online applications. The Word-compatible (.doc) version suits employers who ask for an editable file. If no format is specified, PDF is the safer default.

Honest limit: no score, template or format guarantees an ATS pass or an interview. Different employers use different systems with different settings, and a human still makes the final decision. A clean, readable, truthful resume gives you the best chance — it cannot promise an outcome.

Resume mistakes checklist

Drawn from what the ATS Checker commonly flags. Run through this list before you send any resume.

  • Missing contact details — no phone number or email address for the recruiter to reply to.
  • Weak duty verbs such as “responsible for” instead of what you actually did and achieved.
  • No numbers on achievements — claims with no scale, result or timeframe for the reader to judge.
  • Typos and inconsistent spelling, which readers notice before they notice your experience.
  • A photo where the market doesn't expect one — some countries expect it, others penalise it; check the country guidance first.
  • Copied generic objectives that could belong to anyone and say nothing about you.
  • Skills you cannot demonstrate if asked about them in an interview or a test.
  • A 5-page resume for a junior role — length should match experience, and most early-career resumes fit one to two pages.
  • Unreadable file names such as “CV-final-final2.pdf” that a recruiter cannot identify later.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The builder, all six templates and PDF/Word export are free, with no sign-up and no payment step.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts. Your work auto-saves in your own browser on your own device, so you can leave and return on the same device and browser.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?

No. Your resume stays in your browser; local autosave only. The optional AI buttons are the one exception: they send only that section's facts through the AstolixGen server to OpenAI, nothing is stored by AstolixGen, and AI use is limited to 20 requests per day per visitor.

Does a high score guarantee an ATS pass or interview?

No. Different employers use different screening systems with different settings, and a human makes the final decision. A high checker score means your resume is well structured and well matched to one job description — it is not a promise of any outcome.

PDF or Word — which should I send?

Send the format the employer asks for. If none is specified, PDF (print) is the safer default because it preserves your layout exactly. Use the Word-compatible (.doc) version when an employer asks for an editable file.

Which template should I choose?

Match the role and the market, not your taste alone. ATS Classic is the safest choice for online applications; Executive suits senior and leadership roles; Fresh Graduate puts education first for first applications; Technical & IT leads with skills for engineering and IT roles; International Minimalist is a quiet, neutral option across countries.

How long should my resume be?

As long as your experience justifies and no longer. Most early-career resumes fit one to two pages. Check the country guidance in the builder — expected length varies by market.

Does it work for Gulf, UK and Germany applications?

Yes. The builder includes country guidance for markets including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and Australia, covering length, photo and spelling conventions for each. The country guides linked below go into more detail.

Can I import my old CV?

Yes. You can import a PDF, a Word file or a photo (read with OCR), or paste existing resume text, and then edit it in the builder's steps.
